With the Presidential debates in full throttle, I am certain we have all been experiencing some powerful emotional upheavals that may be provoked by certain behaviors from candidates. Perhaps this hints to putting our practice of compassion to the test and extending the wish that our nation would aspire to becoming mindful.
Well, here's some good news. Senator Tim Ryan published A Mindful Nation in 2013. A book I highly recommend. He leads Meditation classes on Capital Hill. He has also sponsored legislative bills that support mindfulness in schools and for veterans. This to me represents a very powerful and positive message within the political system. While whatever antics play out on the political front for now, behind the scenes there is a movement in Mindfulness happening.
We have about 7 more months of the Presidential race and while each of us have our hopes for one of the candidates to take the Presidential seat, turning toward the Good seems like a necessary action during this showmanship. So as I turn toward the Good, I hope you enjoy this article on Senator Tim Ryan. And may we all meet this presidential campaign drama not holding our breath, but with full awareness of each breath we take.
