Frequently Asked Questions
Below is a list of some frequently asked questions. Please feel free to call the office at (775) 997-5538 if you need additional information. I am always happy to assist you.
Is Integrative Medicine a good option for me?
Anyone who desires treatment for a current issue, preventative care and holistic support for a healthy body should consider Integrative Medicine. Integrative Medicine works from different modes of health toward one goal – your well-being. Often a symptom can have multiple causes in the body, mind or heart. Focusing on only one treatment option will leave the rest of the root causes untreated and able to create the problem again and again. As a licensed nurse practitioner, I use traditional medicine, therapies and treatments on illness related problems as well as supplements, yoga and sexuality counseling to ensure that your body’s systems can work at their top performance for your life your way. I use Integrative Medicine to see the whole picture of life, not just a sickness that means you need to be fixed.
What is Sexuality Counseling?
Sexuality counseling is a type of talk therapy that focuses on healthy, satisfying sexual perspectives in your life. Patients seek this type of counseling to deepen their relationships, understand issues from surgery or medication with lasting effects on sexual enjoyment, help in the struggle with menopause or improve a lack of desire. Almost anyone who wants to improve the sexual aspect of life might benefit from sexuality counseling.
I need quick results, can you help me?
I can diagnose issues you may have, but Integrative Medicine involves some treatments that are long-term lifestyle changes and not a quick fix. While some medications can be quick acting, herbal supplements and specific exercises take time to have a noticeable effect on the body. These overall health changes tend to outlast a pill taken just for one symptom / illness. Herbal supplements are less concentrated than pharmaceuticals and sometimes take time to reach a significant level in your system. This means you experience a gentler change than harsh medications, but patience is key.
In order to ensure prompt service, we appreciate your efforts to be on-time for your scheduled appointment. First-time clients should allow 15-30 minutes before your appointment to complete a medical history ,which includes current medications, allergies and health background.
Call the office to let me know you're on your way and I'll try to accommodate you (although if it's a really busy day, we may have to reschedule). If I haven't heard from you and it's more than 15 minutes past your appointment time then we will have to reschedule.
If you need to cancel or change an appointment I require 24 hours notice. If you are more than 15 minutes late the cancellation policy applies. Due to the popularity of these unique services, appointments cancelled or rescheduled in less than 24 hours prior to your scheduled time will be charged a $50 fee.
